The Ultimate Guide to Strength Sports for Veterans - Members of the military go through rigorous physical training and are required to make tremendous personal sacrifices. The difference in one’s day-to-day life between working in the military versus post service can be stark, particularly when it comes to physical fitness and finding a renewed sense of community. That is why we are going to delve into strength sports as the viable option for veterans. Not only can strength sports help veterans maintain or regain their physical fitness, but they can also help fill the need for a friendly support structure made from a community of like-minded individuals.

Memory Care for Veterans - Receiving an Alzheimer’s diagnosis can be devastating for both seniors and their loved ones. And while the news itself can be overwhelming, getting the right diagnosis is also the first step in receiving the right care. From therapies to medications, new and innovative treatments are being developed all the time to improve the quality of life of those living with memory impairment. Understanding the disease and getting the right treatment as soon as possible is the best way to ensure that patients lead the best lives possible.

HELP.ORG  Recently a group of medical professionals spent time with addiction experts to find out more about the substance abuse crisis that military veterans throughout the U.S. and their families are facing. There are of course further implications such as long term medical problems, additional psychiatric disorders, interpersonal and vocational impairment, and sadly suicide.  Unfortunately, for most communities this problem is hidden due to the lack of awareness. So help.org created a guide that provides comprehensive information on substance abuse statistics among veterans, governmental programs that offers treatment, and steps that veterans can take to get the help that they need.

The Military Guide - The Military Guide is the straight shooters handbook for future, current, and former military service members. It’s no doubt that service men and women face countless uncertainties at every stage of their military career. From those first timid steps into the recruiter’s office to walking proudly off base with your DD-214 as a newly minted Veteran, we’re here to help. At the Military Guide, we’ve got your six.

Recovery Village - An organization with locations across the country, is dedicated to helping those struggling with substance abuse into recovery. We believe that quality content is key in providing individuals and their loved ones with additional information. Many men and women who have bravely served our country are sadly left with painful memories they wish they didn't have. In many cases, veterans turn to drugs and alcohol as a way to deal with these thoughts, especially PTSD. Luckily, there are resources available to help.

Veterans Guide to HealthFollowing time spent as part of the armed services, it can be a challenge to adjust to civilian life. There may be issues with re-entering the job market, navigating relationships outside of the military and in some cases, health and wellness obstacles as well. There is a sense of structure and not much room for flexibility when you’re in the military. That may be something that becomes second nature to you. Readjustment to life when you leave the military does often leave you with more flexibility, but that can mean more decisions, and it can get overwhelming. The changes in life can take their toll on health and nutrition decisions and habits. (Thank you Brenda Snow)

Assisted Living for Veterans - Assisted Living is a community organization that is focused on helping older adults maximize the various stages of life. One of their missions is helping veterans find proper care options, especially if they are living with disabilities. (Thank you Heather Cora)

Find A Veteran Center Near Me - We combined the governments national veteran addiction treatment center data base with modern location technology to help veterans find local addiction treatment. Our Find A Veteran Center Near Me technology uses the location of our veterans computers, tablets, or cell phones to generate a local listing of the veteran addiction treatment centers closest to them. Treatment-centers.net is a community based public benefit website connecting people to the addiction resources they need.  The resource is free to the public.

How to Help a Veteran with Substance Abuse: Our U.S. military is made up of arguably some of the bravest, most selfless individuals that exist, giving portions of their life—if not their entire life—to help defend the United States. However, carrying this type of burden doesn’t always come without a cost, and sometimes that cost comes in the form of substance abuse.
